John C. Bovay joined the firm in 1983, after practicing international trade law in Washington D.C. Mr. Bovay received his undergraduate degree from Washington & Lee University in 1979. He became a C.P.A. in 1984 and received his LL.M. in taxation from the University of Florida College of Law in 1988. Mr. Bovay became a shareholder in 1990.

Mr. Bovay spends most of his time consulting with clients on estate planning issues. He not only works with clients regarding maximizing the use of their estate tax exemptions, but also the use of creative planning techniques such as Family Limited Partnerships, Lifetime QTIP Trusts, Qualified Personal Residence Trusts (QPRT’s), Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts (GRAT’s) and Charitable Remainder Unitrusts (CRUT’s).

Mr. Bovay also maintains a separate law practice, Bovay & Cook, P.A

Mr. Bovay is a past Chairman/President of the Alliance for Economic Development (a partnership of the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce and the Council for Economic Outreach), the Gainesville Country Club, Florida Citizen's Bank and the Gator Pro Am.
